Assistant to the Artistic Director

Karen Mang

Originally from Saskatchewan, Karen studied clarinet at the University of Victoria and sang in two church choirs, Pacific Opera Victoria and Capriccio Vocal Ensemble while on the Island.

Karen moved to Vancouver in 1993 and served as a regular member of the RCMP until 2006. Since then, she has been a freelance singer in Vancouver starting off as the soprano section leader of Christ Church Cathedral Choir. Karen sings with the vocal chamber ensemble, musica intima, and has sung with the Vancouver Chamber Choir, Stellaria vocal ensemble and others.

Karen was the assistant conductor of the Pacific Spirit Children’s Choir until the end of the 2014 season. She resumes her role as Assistant to the Artistic Director for the 2014-2015 season, having gone on the 2002 tour to Italy and taken the choir during Mr. Lang’s 2002 fall sabbatical. She is thrilled to be making music with such outstanding young artists.
