About Us

Vancouver Children’s Choir’s repertoire is grounded in the classics such as Gregorian Chant, Pergolesi, Bach, Handel, Mozart, Debussy, Britten. From this solid foundation the choristers branch out to sing a complete variety of musical styles from every age….. from Beethoven to Bono!

Singing in the Vancouver Children’s Choir isn’t all about work. Often our concerts incorporate choreography, a multitude of languages and musical styles.

Alumni of Vancouver Chamber Choir have gone on to further musical studies or have joined adult choirs in the city. In all cases they have credited their musical beginnings with the years they spent in Vancouver Children’s Choir.

Founded in 1983 by Rupert Lang, the Vancouver Children’s has been praised for their artistry at local music festivals, including the International Kathaumixw in Powell River and placed second in the Children’s Choir category at the International Musical Eisteddfod, in Llangollen, Wales.

Throughout their 28 year history, VCC has offered excellent vocal training, as well as a wide variety of performance experiences. These have included singing for royalty, as well as many civic and provincial functions. The choir has also performed sound-track work for NBC and Paramount Pictures, provided back-up vocals for artists such as Judith Forst and the Vancouver Symphony, and sung for a diverse range of corporate events–including at sunset on the top of Whistler Mountain!

Along with several local tours, in recent years  VCC has toured Italy and was choir-in-residence at an international conference in York, England. This choir has brought their voices to a wide variety of famous spaces such as Coventry Cathedral in England, St. Peter’s in Rome and Carnegie Hall, New York.

An important part of VCC philosophy includes choristers offering their vocal talents from time to time to national and civic events (such as Canada Day and Citizenship Ceremonies), church services, as well as local charity and fund-raiser events, such as CBC Radio’s Annual Food Drive.
